URL Links

These are links that will send people to other areas of your web site, or to other related web sites. These links can be text or graphic.

Click Here to View The DataDay Services Home Page

(One drawback to sending people to another site is that you don't know when they will be back, if ever.)

Frames

Frames are used to divide the browser into seperate areas that will display different information.

(Some browsers don't support frames, and therefore, are not always the best way to go.)

This "features" section of the DataDay Services web site is a clickable list. When you click on a topic, you are sent to that area of the page.

    • Parts or Product lists

    Keywords

Keywords are embedded in the web page document, but are not visible to the browser. They are used in the rating system used by most search engines to rate your page.

If you use the keyword "widgets," and someone does a search for the word "widgets," your page should show up in the list of available sites.

Careful selection of key words is an important marketing tool when designing your site.

(Your site must be submited to each search engine in order for it, and your keywords, to be recognised by that search engine. Submission services are available through DataDay Services)

    Scrolling Marquee

A scrolling marquee can be embedded in your web page, and is seen at the bottom of the browser.
Look down at the very bottom of this page. If your browser supports this feature, you should be able to read the "DataDay Services" marquee.

    Hit Counter

A hit counter would look like this:
This page has been hit [the clipart] Times since mm/dd/yy.

The number goes up by 1 each time someone visits your web page. A hit counter can give you a good idea how popular your web site is.

    Sound

Midi files (sound files) can be embedded in your web page to give it sound. These files are often very large and take time to download.
Click the music note to hear the Bard Dance.
    [a music note]

(There are a few limitations, as some browsers aren't set up to play sound, and not everyone has a sound card and speakers.)

    Background Images

Most images can be used for a background, but you have to be carefull not to make your web site too busy. Click the images below to see what they would look like as a background.
